WIC Overview
WIC is a nutrition education program providing nutrition services and food vouchers.
The Montana WIC Program provides low income, pregnant, lactating and postpartum women, infants and children up to age five, at nutrition risk, with:
- Nutrition information and tips for eating well to improve health.
- Breastfeeding promotion and support.
- Health and social service referrals.
- Benefits to buy healthy foods.

Find WIC retailers in your area
Many stores throughout Montana accept WIC benefits. Click here to view a list of WIC retailers by town.
To qualify for WIC benefits, a person must be either:
- A pregnant woman,
- A breastfeeding woman,
- A woman who recently had a baby,
- An infant, birth to 12 months, or
- A child, up to age 5 years
AND
- Determined by a health professional to be at nutritional or medical risk
- Below 185% of Federal Poverty Income Guidelines (see below)
- Reside in Montana

**A pregnant woman counts as 2 family members**
WIC participation will NOT reduce SNAP (food stamp) or TANF benefits.
You do NOT have to participate in another program to participate in WIC.
