Through MFBN’s Retail Food Rescue Program (formerly Grocery Rescue), our network partners rescue non-sellable products which are still safe for consumption providing more options to food pantry visitors.

America’s dumpsters should not be better fed than its people.

In 2023, our network partners rescued 9,484,243 pounds of food!   

Montana Food Bank Network trains Retail Food Rescue partners with food safety education and continues to monitor partners to ensure all rescued food is kept safe for consumption.

PRODUCTS ACCEPTED: 

  • Produce, meat, beverages, bakery, dairy, dry food, deli, and prepared foods and non-food items such as hygiene products, pet food, etc.  
  • We cannot accept recalled products, spoiled food, products without ingredient lists, or perishables returned by a customer. 

OUR DEDICATED NATIONAL RETAIL PARTNERS:

Albertsons, Safeway, Costco, Walmart, Target, WinCo, Smith’s, Sam’s Club, Loaf ‘N Jug, US Foods Chef’Store, Food Service of America, United Natural Foods, SYSCO, Big Lots, and Panera Bread.
