Raising awareness across the state of Montana

The Montana Food Bank Network works to end hunger in Montana through public policy solutions at the local, state, and federal levels. MFBN works on an ongoing basis with legislators, government officials, and the hunger-relief community to make ending hunger in Montana a priority. Our Public Policy efforts include:

  • Conducting research and monitoring data on the status of hunger in Montana
  • Helping to inform policy by educating policy makers on the prevalence of hunger in Montana, its underlying causes, and its long-term consequences
  • Increasing public awareness and understanding of hunger
  • Increasing participation in the public nutrition programs including SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), WIC, Free and Reduced Price School Meals, and the Summer Food Service Program
  • Advocacy for policies that bring sustainable, long-term solutions to hunger, including policies that support the public nutrition programs
  • Engaging and empowering clients and local communities to be involved in efforts to address hunger
