We know we can’t do it alone

Volunteers play a vital role in the Montana Food Bank Network’s mission

of working to eliminate hunger in Montana.

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

Updated December 2022

Thousands of hours have been donated over the years by individuals, groups and organizations that are as passionate as we are about strengthening the roots of our communities across our state.

Volunteering in itself is a rewarding experience

In our Missoula warehouse, our volunteers work throughout the year on several different projects for all of our programs. Below you can find a description of the projects that have the most consistent need.  If you would like to request to work on a specific project please contact Amy Doughten, our Volunteer Coordinator for details.

Please note that the volunteer applications below are for volunteering at Montana Food Bank Network warehouse in Missoula ONLY.  To volunteer for a partner agency in another location, you can find their contact information on our Network Map to contact them directly about volunteer opportunities.

  • Food Repack or Sorting: This year round project takes foods that arrive to us in bulk sized bins and repacks them into smaller family-sized portions that are more shelf friendly for our partner agencies. This project is easy and is suitable for all ages and group sizes
  • Mail-a-Meal builds: Our Mail-a-Meal boxes are distributed monthly via a 50 pound box that is packed with exact placements and foods like a jigsaw puzzle. This project needs great attention to detail and requires heavy lifting and lots of walking
