BIG SKY.
BIG VISION.

Today, 1 in 9 Montanans live in food insecure households, including 1 in 6 children – and the need is only increasing. As the leader of a network of 330 partners backed by a broad base of impassioned volunteers and generous donors, we know we can meet the challenge together.

We’re inviting you to join us in our $15 million Campaign for Bigger Impact as we take the next step in achieving our vision of a Montana free from hunger where everyone has equal access to nutrient-dense food.
With your support of our new facility, we can serve our partner network in new and better ways and, at the end of the day, provide our neighbors with more of the food they need to thrive.
Thank you, Kembel, Kosena and Company, Inc. for capturing this footage from our Ground Breaking & Blessing Ceremony that took place on Thursday, April 25th, 2024.

ENDING HUNGER IN MONTANA

Montana Food Bank Network (MFBN) is Montana’s only statewide food bank and member of Feeding America. We provide direct service to 330 Network Partners, including community food banks, pantries, schools, senior centers, shelters, and tribal centers. Our hunger relief programs include BackPack, Child Nutrition, Hunters Against Hunger, Mail-a-Meal, Retail Food Rescue, and SNAP outreach. We also advocate for long-term policy solutions to strengthen public nutrition programs and address the root causes of hunger.

WE’VE OUTGROWN OUR WAREHOUSE

As food insecurity in Montana has grown, so have we. To keep up with the rising demand for food in our state, our warehouse, transportation, and operations teams have mastered the art of sourcing, storing, and distributing as much food as possible, as efficiently as possible. In fact, we can turn $1 into as least four meals.

A new and bigger warehouse will make every dollar go even further. Three-quarters of our network partners don’t have the storage capacity they need at the local community level. As Montana’s leader in food insecurity, we have the relationships and buying power to make the biggest impact on hunger. With more space, we’ll be able to bridge that gap for all our partners.

OUR NEW FACILITY WILL ALLOW US TO:

  • Double our current freezer, cooler, and warehouse storage capacity to 56,000 square feet, with room for 1,600 pallets of shelf-stable goods, 160 pallets of fresh produce, and 300 pallets of frozen meat, vegetables, and more.
  • Buy in bigger, more cost-efficient quantities and take advantage of unexpected opportunities like large donations–and process it all that much faster.
  • Partner with local growers and ranchers to help source and distribute a wider variety of healthy foods like fresh produce, dairy, and protein, including culturally relevant options.
  • Keep up with the rise of food insecurity in Montana by broadening our outreach and impact through our expanding network of partners and unique programs.
  • More than double our volunteer capacity, saving on costs and
allowing for even more community engagement.
