Alexis Smith’s Bio

1. I grew up in Picayune, Mississippi, five miles east of Honey Island Swamp, Louisiana. I grew up eating lots of gumbo and king cake. I’ve been living in Montana for five years now!
2. Food security is a human right, and all Montanans deserve to have reliable access to the food that they want to eat.
3. I love working with a team of people who are empathetic and passionate about ending hunger and getting to spend my time connecting with our partners across the state. It is awesome to support and learn from folks who care so much about their communities.

5 fun facts: 

1.  I’m obsessed with my two cats, Frankie and Rumi. Frankie even made the 37-hour trip with me when I moved north!
2. I learned to embroider and mend this year, and I think it will be a lifelong hobby.
3. I studied International Studies and Spanish during college. The best decision I ever made… I met my husband in Mexico City!
4. I love baking cookies! It’s one of my favorite things to do.
5. I am an avid public radio listener. You can find me listening to our local station, KGFM, or KEXP, based out of Seattle, most days.
